WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team defeated the Villanova University Wildcats 14-5 on Sunday afternoon at Capital One Park. With the win in Tysons, Virginia the Hoyas improve to 23-25 overall and 5-10 in conference play while the Wildcats slip to 16-26 on the season and 3-12 in league action.
ON THE RECORD
"Really proud of our guys and the way they responded. We hadn't played to our standard over the past few games, so coming out and getting a win on Sunday was big for our program. Our pitching set the tone. Kai Leckszas gave us a strong start, the bullpen was outstanding, and Charlie Hendrix made his first BIG EAST appearance, which was great to see. Offensively, our seniors led the way. Connor Price hit a big home run to put us ahead, Travis Ilitch had a great day at the plate and Jeremy Sheffield delivered a key three-run double that really broke it open. Winning is hard, and it's something we truly value as a program. To do it on a Sunday in front of our fans and head home on a positive note means a lot. - Head Coach Edwin Thompson
