WASHINGTON – Georgetown's Alan Rose finished tied for fifth at the 116th Massachusetts Open Championship on Thursday and captured the low amateur honors. The Weston, Massachusetts native finished 6-under par at Oyster Harbors Club shooting 74, 69 and 67 in the three-round tournament. Rose made history as the first low amateur in 20 years to capture the honor at his home club.
"It was such an honor to play well at a place that means so much to my family. In terms of the final round, Coach Hunter always talks to us about facing adversity during tournaments, and how important it is to respond well. So to bogey the 14th hole in the final round and respond by making three birdies in my final four holes to lock up the low amateur felt like a lot of hard work that Coach Hunter and I have put in really paying off." - Alan Rose
Carson Erick also competed in the event, finishing tied for 24th at 1-over par after posting rounds of 72, 73 and 72. Georgetown alum Connor Willet was also in the field, tying for 49th place with rounds of 74, 75 and 76.
