WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team has announced the nonconference portion of the 2026-27 schedule. The Hoyas will play 12 nonconference matchups with nine at home, including seven at Capital One Arena, the downtown home of the Blue & Gray, as well as a pair at McDonough Arena, GU's on-campus home venue.

GAME 1: Loyola Maryland | Monday, November 2, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- Georgetown and Loyola Maryland will meet for the 44th time in program history with the Hoyas holding the 36-7 advantage dating back to the 1908-09 season. Most recently, the Hoyas won a 99-75 regular season matchup during the 2010-11 season.
- The Greyhounds closed the 2025-26 season with a 12-20 record and an 8-10 mark in Patriot League action.
- Loyola Maryland is led by Head Coach Josh Loeffler, who enters his third season in the role.
- This will be Head Coach Ed Cooley's 13th meeting against Loyola Maryland in his career as he holds an 8-4 record against the Greyhounds. It marks his first meeting against Loeffler.
GAME 2: Maryland | Saturday, November 7, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- The Hoyas and the Terrapins will meet for the 69th time in program history with GU holding a 30-38 record dating back to the 1907-08 season. The two teams faced each other last season at Xfinity Center in College Park with the Hoyas coming away with the 70-60 win. Caleb Williams recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- Maryland went 12-21 during the 2025-26 season with a 4-16 mark in Big Ten play.
- The 2026-27 season marks the second season for Head Coach Buzz Williams.
- Cooley has faced Maryland three times in his career, improving to 1-2 against the Terps after last season's matchup. He holds a 2-3 record against Williams with the majority of the matchups coming from their time at previous institutions in Providence and Marquette, respectively.
GAME 3: Delaware State | Tuesday, November 10, 2026 | McDonough Arena
- Georgetown will face Delaware State for the fourth time in program history dating back to the 1991-92 season. Most recently the Hoyas managed a 63-54 win at home in 2003.
- Delaware State went 8-23 during the 2025-26 campaign with a 2-12 mark in MEAC play.
- Head Coach Stan Waterman is in his fifth season with the Hornets.
- This will be Cooley's first meeting against Delaware State and Waterman.
GAME 4: at Clemson | Friday, November 13, 2026 | Littlejohn Coliseum (Clemson, S.C.)
- Georgetown and Clemson will meet for the third time in program history with the Hoyas owning a 2-0 advantage following a 79-74 home win last season. A quartet of Hoyas were in double figures in the game as returner Williams tallied 13 points.
- Clemson closed the 2025-26 season with a 24-11 record, including a 12-6 mark in ACC play before falling 67-61 to Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Head Coach Brad Brownell is in his 17th season with the Tigers.
- Following last year's home win, Cooley is 1-0 against both the Tigers and Brownell.
GAME 5: Navy | Wednesday, November 18, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- Georgetown holds a 19-38 record all-time against Navy, dating back to the 1908-09 season. The last meeting was a 78-71 loss in the 2020-21 season on December 1.
- Navy wrapped up its 2025-26 season with a 26-8 overall record and a 17-1 mark in Patriot League play.
- Head Coach Jon Perry returns to Navy for his 14th season and second at the helm.
- Cooley is 1-0 against the Midshipmen and will meet Perry for the first time.
GAME 6: Coppin State | Saturday, November 21, 2026 | McDonough Arena
- Georgetown and Coppin State will meet for the eighth time in program history with the Hoyas holding a perfect 7-0 record since the first meeting in 2016. The most recent matchup was a season ago with the Hoyas taking the 83-53 victory at McDonough Arena.
- Coppin State finished the 2025-26 season with a 7-24 overall record and a 5-9 mark in MEAC play.
- The 2026-27 season will mark Head Coach Larry Stewart's fourth season at CSU.
- Cooley is 3-0 against Coppin State and Stewart following last season's matchup.
GAME 7: Texas (Rady Children's Invitational) | Thursday, November 26, 2026 | Jenny Craig Pavilion (San Diego, Calif.)
- Georgetown and Texas will meet for the fourth time in program history with the Hoyas holding a slim 2-1 advantage in the series that started in 1971-72. The most recent matchup was during the 2019-20 regular season at Madison Square Garden when the Hoyas toppled No. 22 Texas 82-66 in the 2K Empire Classic.
- Texas finished the 2025-26 season with a 21-15 overall record and a 9-9 mark in SEC play.
- The 2026-27 season will mark Head Coach Sean Miller's second season with the Longhorns.
- Cooley is 2-0 against Texas and owns a 2-5 record against Miller.
GAME 8: UCLA or Saint Mary's (Rady Children's Invitational) | Friday, November 27, 2026 | Jenny Craig Pavilion (San Diego, Calif.)
- Following its matchup against Texas, Georgetown will face either UCLA or Saint Mary's as part of the 2026 Rady Children's Invitational, a four-team event set for Thanksgiving week.
- The Hoyas have faced UCLA three times previously dating back to the 2001-02 season. With a 78-70 win at Barclays Center in 2012, Georgetown is now 1-2 against the Bruins.
- The Bruins finished the 2025-26 season with a 24-12 overall record and a 13-7 mark in Big Ten play advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to UConn 73-57.
- UCLA is led by Head Coach Mick Cronin in his eighth season at the helm.
- A matchup against the Bruins would be a first for Cooley while he holds a 1-3 record against Cronin.
- Saint Mary's finished the 2025-26 season with a 27-6 record and a 16-2 mark in WCC play before falling to Texas A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- The Gaels are ed by first time head coach Mickey McConnell.
- The Hoyas and Cooley would meet Saint Mary's for the first time in program history.
GAME 9: UMass Lowell | Wednesday, December 2, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- This will be the first meeting between the Hoyas and River Hawks.
- UMass Lowell went 15-18 during the 2025-26 season with a 9-7 mark in America East play.
- The River Hawks are led by Head Coach Pat Duquette who enters his 14th season in the role.
- This will be Cooley's first meeting against UMass Lowell and Duquette.
GAME 10: Rider | Wednesday, December 9, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- This will be the second meeting between the Hoyas and the Broncs with Georgetown holding a 1-0 record in the series. In its first matchup, the Hoyas came away with an 83-68 win during the 1975-76 season.
- Rider went 4-25 during the 2025-26 season with a 3-17 mark in MAAC action.
- Head Coach Kevin Baggett will be in his 15th season at the helm of the Rider program for the 2026-27 season.
- In 13 outings, Cooley is 6-7 against the Broncs and 3-0 against Baggett.
GAME 11: North Carolina | Saturday, December 12, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- This will be the 11th meeting between the Hoyas and the Tar Heels with the squads even at 5-5 in the series that dates back to the 1919-20 season. The two squads met a season ago with the Hoyas falling 81-61 on the road.
- North Carolina went 24-9 during the 2025-26 season with a 12-6 mark in ACC action before falling 82-78 in overtime to VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- The Tar Heels are led by Head Coach Michael Malone who enters his first season at the helm.
- Cooley is 0-3 against UNC, falling twice in the NCAA Tournament to the Tar Heels in addition to last season's regular season matchup. It will be his first matchup against Malone.
GAME 12: Sacred Heart | Wednesday, December 16, 2026 | Capital One Arena
- Georgetown and Sacred Heart will meet for the first time in program history.
- Sacred Heart finished the 2025-26 season with a 14-19 overall record and a 9-11 mark in MAAC play.
- The 2025-26 season will mark Head Coach Anthony Latina's 14th season at SHU.
- Cooley is 7-0 against Sacred Heart and Latina with their matchup in the 2021-22 season.
