WASHINGTON – Georgetown football will open the 2026 season at home under the lights on Thursday, August 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C.

ABOUT THE HOYAS

• Last season, the Hoyas finished the year with a 6-6 record in regular-season play and a 3-4 mark in conference play, finishing fifth in the Patriot League.
• Senior defensive lineman Chigozie Oge-Evans was named to the 2026 Preseason All-Patriot League Football Team. Last season, the senior Registered career highs with 27 total tackles, including 18 solo stops and nine assisted tackles, recorded four sacks for 26 yards lost and added one pass breakup and one forced fumble.
• Georgetown bolstered its coaching staff during the offseason with the additions of Nolan Givan and Sharrif Floyd, while also welcoming back Jack McDaniels.
• The Hoyas named five team captains this season with Wedner Cadet, Braylon Wise, Chigozie Oge-Evans, Mosiah Talanoa and Jacob Holtschlag.
• Head Coach Rob Sgarlata enters his 13th season at the helm of the Hoyas.

• Last year, Lafayette went 8-4 on the season with a 6-1 mark in Patriot League action.
• Offensive lineman Sean Wilson and wide receiver Carson Persing were both named to the 2026 Preseason All-Patriot Team
• Head Coach John Troxell leads the Leopards in his fifth season with the Leopards

ABOUT THE MATCHUP

• Georgetown and Lafayette will meet for the 29th time in program history, dating back to 1902. The Hoyas are 11-17 all-time against the Leopards.  
• GU's last win over the Leopards was a 17-0 victory on November 12, 2024 on the road.
