WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime on the road at Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon in Boone, North Carolina. The Hoyas even their record to 1-1 on the year while the Mountaineers improve to 2-0.

In goal,
Alex Duff collected a career-high 12 saves in the loss.
After a scoreless first half, Georgetown took the initial lead and netted the first goal of the game at the 37:39 mark.
Katherine Malloy intercepted an errant App State pass midfield and dropped a pass to a streaking Brice from the backfield. Brice launched a long-distance pass to find McManaman waiting on the doorstep to beat the Mountaineer goalkeeper one-on-one for the score.
Georgetown held its host scoreless until just 20 seconds remained in regulation. App State was awarded a penalty corner and, after an initial save from Duff, tied the game up at 1-1 on a rebound shot.
Duff continued to provide strong defense in extra time, collecting five saves in overtime. App State managed another penalty corner in the final minute of OT, scoring with 39 seconds remaining off an unsettled scrum in front of the cage.
Chloe Hook and Baylie Phillips both scored for the Mountaineers in the win. Dakota Anderson had five saves in 71 minutes of action.
