WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team defeated Rider 2-1 in nonconference action in Lawrenceville, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas even their record to 4-4 on the season while the Broncs fall to 1-7 overall.
Izzy Lee and
Katherine Malloy both scored for the Hoyas while
Laney Reiser and
Elizabeth Rossotti added assists.
After a scoreless first half, Lee put the Blue & Gray on the board first at the 36:14 mark courtesy of a Reiser assist. Malloy added the game-winner just 62 seconds later with an assist from Rossotti.
In goal,
Ella Fahey (2-0) made the start and collected one save in the win.
Georgetown's defense held Rider to just two shots on goal the entire game.
Ang Borisow scored Rider's lone goal of the game. Jade Rengert had nine saves in 54:10 of action before being pulled for an extra offensive player down the stretch.
