WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team fell to visiting Providence 1-0 in BIG EAST action at Kehoe Field on Friday afternoon. With the loss the Hoyas fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in league play while the Friars improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the BIG EAST.
A tightly contested matchup the entire day, both sides were held scoreless before Providence snuck home a late goal with 3:07 remaining in regulation to take the lead. The Hoyas had a chance late for the equalizer, drawing a Friar yellow card with less than two minutes remaining and earning a penalty corner 25 seconds later. Georgetown's attempt was negated, allowing PC to run out the clock on the opposite end of the field.

Alex Duff (2-5) collected eight saves in the loss.
Carly van Benten scored the lone goal for the Friars with Ariana Ftorek adding the assist. Ava Porter (6-2) had a pair of saves between the pipes in the win.
