WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime on the road at VCU on Sunday afternoon in Richmond, Virginia. The Hoyas drop to 4-6 on the year while the Rams improve to 5-4 overall.

In goal,
Ella Fahey (2-1) collected eight saves in the loss.
VCU struck first, converting a penalty stroke in the 13th minute to take an early 1-0 lead in the opening quarter.
After a scoreless second and third quarter, Chierici would tie things up with less than nine minutes remaining with the equalizer at the 51:14 mark to push the game into overtime.
In the extra period, the Rams managed seven penalty corners and pelted the Hoyas with nine shots. The Georgetown defense held strong until the final minute before allowing the golden goal with just 38 seconds remaining in overtime off of a penalty corner.
Ana Afonso scored both goals for the Rams. Lina Behrmann and Julia Spohr were credited with assists on the game winner. In goal, Emma Clements (5-4) had one save in the win.
