WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Francis X. Rienzo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced the hiring of Kevin D. Kendrick, Ed.D., as the new senior associate director of athletics for internal operations on Wednesday. Kendrick comes to the Hilltop from Florida International University where he has served as an administrator since 2020. At Georgetown, he will oversee all internal operations including compliance, academics and sports performance as well as serving as the sport administrator for the football, squash, field hockey and baseball teams. 
 
"Dr. Kendrick brings extensive leadership experience and a deep understanding of the collegiate athletics landscape," said Reed. "His engagement at the national level, combined with his ability to translate that perspective into effective leadership on campus, will be a tremendous asset to Georgetown. I look forward to working with Kevin as we continue to strengthen Georgetown Athletics."
 
Kendrick has more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience spanning executive administration, governance, strategic planning, compliance, revenue generation, fundraising, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) and Division I sport administration. At FIU, he served as the senior associate athletic director overseeing operational and strategic initiatives which included NIL strategy, institutional governance and leading the department's implementation of evolving NCAA legislation while developing innovative partnerships. He also served as the sport administrator for the football program.
 
In 2025, Kendrick received the Frank Kara Leadership Award, the highest honor presented by the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), recognizing his exceptional leadership, service, innovation, and lasting impact on the profession. Kendrick is a 2026 graduate of the NCAA Pathway Program, the NCAA's premier yearlong executive leadership initiative designed to prepare senior-level athletics administrators for advancement to positions as directors of athletics and conference commissioners. His national leadership also includes service on the NCAA Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement, where he contributed to policy development and decision-making affecting Division I institutions nationwide. He is an active member of several national organizations dedicated to advancing leadership, governance, and excellence across intercollegiate athletics.
 
Throughout his career, Kendrick worked at Florida International University, Southern Illinois University, Alabama State University, and Grambling State University. His roles involved executive administration, compliance, governance, fundraising, strategic planning, student-athlete development, and organizational leadership.
 
Kendrick is an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where he has led initiatives supporting youth mentorship, educational advancement and community engagement.
 
The Atlanta native earned a Doctor of Education in educational administration with an emphasis in higher education from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
