WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Athletics welcomed a pair of new staff members this month. Dr. Marcus Edward Dumas, Psy.D., CMPC joined the team as the Department's Amato Family Head of Athletic Counseling Services. Additionally,
Lisa Perrett came to the Hilltop as GU's Director of Sports Nutrition. Both positions are funded thanks to the generosity of Georgetown donors.
The work of both positions is accessible to all Georgetown student-athletes, and allows the Department to continue its holistic approach to formation. Dr. Dumas leads staff that performs individual counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach programming and collaborative care. Perrett works closely with Sports Medicine, Sports Performance and coaches to optimize health, recovery and performance.

The Amato Family Head of Athletic Counseling Services
Dr. Marcus Edward Dumas (Dr. Du) leads the department's athletic counseling program while providing comprehensive mental health services for Georgetown student-athletes in collaboration with Georgetown University's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS), Sports Medicine, coaches and athletics administrators.
Dr. Du is a licensed psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) whose work focuses on the intersection of mental health, human performance, leadership and athlete development. In his role, he provides clinical care and consultation while leading efforts to advance an integrated model of mental health, performance and student-athlete development.
Prior to Georgetown, Dr. Du served in athletics at Texas Tech University, where he provided psychological services to multiple Division I programs, developed and delivered mental health and performance programming, supervised graduate trainees, and collaborated closely with sports medicine and athletic performance professionals to support student-athletes competing at the highest levels of collegiate athletics. He previously completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California.
A former Division I football student-athlete, Dr. Du brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to his work. His professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that authentic relationships create the foundation for meaningful growth and that excellence and psychological wellbeing are mutually reinforcing. He is committed to helping student-athletes navigate the demands of collegiate athletics while developing the skills, resilience, and self-awareness needed to thrive both during and beyond their competitive careers.
Originally from South Vacherie, Louisiana, Dr. Du earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Arkansas, where he competed as a Division I football student-athlete, and later earned his doctorate in counseling psychology from Springfield College.
Lisa Perrett, MS, RD, CSSD, LD
Director of Sports Nutrition
Lisa Perrett provides comprehensive sports nutrition services for Georgetown student-athletes, delivering individualized dietary care, team education and high-performance fueling strategies. In her role, she collaborates to optimize the health, recovery, and performance of Hoya student-athletes.
Perrett is a Registered Dietitian (RD), a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) and a Licensed Dietitian. Her professional expertise focuses on the intersection of metabolic health, body composition analysis, and individualized fueling protocols for elite performance. She oversees one-on-one nutritional counseling, clinical bloodwork analysis, performs team-wide nutrition educations, tailored supplementation protocols and body composition testing, helps select appropriate pre-competition and post-competition fueling for teams both at home and on away trips, while managing fueling station operations and advancing an integrated model of nutritional care.
Prior to arriving at Georgetown, Perrett served as a Sports Dietitian at the University of Oregon, where she managed the nutritional needs of more than 150 student-athletes across six Division I programs. During her time with the Ducks, she directed team education, implemented advanced supplementation strategies, and worked closely with each of her team's support staff to ensure best practices of care for all her student athletes.
Perrett's professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that evidence-based nutrition education and sustainable lifestyle habits form the foundation for athletic excellence. She is dedicated to empowering student-athletes with the practical skills, self-awareness, and culinary knowledge needed to fuel their bodies effectively, helping them navigate the rigorous demands of elite competition while fostering long-term health and wellbeing beyond their collegiate careers.
Originally from Ventura, California, Perrett earned her bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics, with a minor in Asian languages and culture, from Oregon State University. She then completed her Coordinated Master's Dietetic Internship with a sports nutrition concentration at the University of Utah.
