About the Cooper Athletics Leadership Program
The Cooper Athletics Leadership Program provides education and training to support the transition to life as a Georgetown student-athlete as well as the transition to life post-graduation. Our approach to leadership development is interdisciplinary and academically grounded. The program aims to foster growth and development by leveraging the lessons learned through participation in intercollegiate athletics at Georgetown University. Fall 2019 marked the first Student-Athlete Leadership Institute with 16 participating student-athletes who were identified by their head coach as an emerging leader.

The Student-Athlete Leadership Institute is a multi-part program that focuses on developing effective leadership skills. Topics will be presented in a variety of methods including experiential learning, engaging workshops and exposure to community leaders. The program is intended for academic junior emerging leaders and is designed to engage student-athletes in the leadership process while providing a forum to develop leader-related connections with peers.

The Student-Athlete Leadership Institute promotes the development of current and emerging leaders associated with Georgetown University Athletic Department. This program is committed to identifying, nurturing and inspiring individuals, through intentional and inclusive leadership development.
