Charles Bolden joined the Georgetown staff in December 2024 and was named the recruiting coordinator/baserunning coordinator.
Bolden joins the Hoya’s staff after spending the last year working within the Baltimore Orioles organization as a Minor League Fundamentals Coach. Bolden worked with the High-A Aberdeen IronBirds as served as the base running, first base and outfield coach. Under Bolden’s leadership, the IronBirds set a franchise/Southern Athletic League record for stolen bases in a single game (10) and set the MiLB stolen base record in the statcast era with 363 stolen bags in 132 games. Bolden played a pivotal role in coaching Enrique Bradfield Jr. to an MiLB Rawlings Gold Glove in 2024.
Prior to joining the Orioles organization, Bolden was the head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Before his role at Eau Claire, Bolden served as the associate coach at the NCAA Divison III Illinois Tech where he was instrumental in boosting the team’s offensive performance, helping set single-season school records in home runs and stolen bases.
In the Spring of 2021, Coach Bolden was named as a scout and coach for USA Baseball’s Midwest Region and National Team Identification series. From 2013-2020 Bolden started his own travel organization the Midwest Havoc and became the CEO and president. During that time over 30 players played college baseball with one getting drafted in the 9th round by the San Francisco Giants. (Charlie Szykowny). Other athletes in the organization after baseball have gone onto to work for multiple fortune 500 companies.
Bolden also spent time at Chicago State University where he focused on improving the team’s offensive output. At CSU, Bolden helped improve the team’s power metrics, home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage.
Before his collegiate years, Bolden played at Oak Park and River Forest High School. The native of Oak Park, Ill. and his wife Claire, have two children Cai and Charlotte.
