Sammie Jenkins joined the Georgetown University coaching staff in the fall of 2019 as a volunteer defensive assistant, working with the team’s defensive line.
Jenkins arrived at Georgetown after spending the past four seasons at nearby Catholic University where he served as the program’s linebacker coach.
He made his coaching debut in 2009 with the Washington Warriors, a semi-pro football team in Washington, D.C. Jenkins served as the team’s defensive coordinator from 2009-2011, coming back for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and helping rein in the team’s championship win in 2015.
Jenkins left the Warriors in 2012 to coach at Bladensburg High School and Northwestern High School before returning to the Warriors.
Jenkins was a member of the Chesapeake Tide arena football team from 2007-08, playing middle linebacker where he was named Defensive Player of the Year in the 2008 season.
Jenkins attended St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving as both middle and outside linebacker under former Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals defensive back Andre Waters. He attended Suitland High School in Prince George’s County, Maryland where he also played middle linebacker and led his team to two championship games.
