Thurston Childrey is in his sixth season on the Hilltop and his fourth working with the Hoyas wide receivers. Childrey spent his first two seasons at GU coaching linebackers and defensive backs. In his first four seasons with the Georgetown receiving corps, Childrey has helped several players produce stand out seasons. Justin Hill earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors scoring six touchdowns and averaging 13.8 yards per reception. Jake DeCicco moved into GU's career top 10 in receptions and yards, while posting a career-high 7-5 yards on 60 receptions. DeCicco was also among the PL leaders with 43 receptions for 446 yards in 2014, while Zack Wilke, led the team with 59 receptions and 668 yards in 2013. In 2012, Childrey coached the team's outside linebackers, working with Dustin Wharton, who made over 100 tackles for his second straight season and earned First Team All-Patriot League honors. In 2011, Childrey worked with defensive backs, as the unit finished second in the Patriot League with 17 interceptions. Under his guidance, senior safeties Wayne Heimuli and David Quintero had productive seasons, each intercepting three passes. Childrey, a Richmond, Va. native, comes to the Hilltop after spending one season as the Assistant Quarterbacks Coach at University of Richmond. At Richmond, Childrey was responsible for signaling in plays during the first four games before being moved to the coaches box to assist the offensive coordinator with recognition of defensive schemes, coverage and play calling. He was also responsible for film breakdown and data entry along with offensive quality control jobs. Prior to Richmond, Childrey served as a Graduate Assistant at University of Virginia for three seasons, working with the offensive coordinator in each season. Childrey graduated from Virginia in 2007 with a B.A. in English and a minor in government, where he served as a student football manager and Head Student Football Manager during his senior year.
