Prior to Georgetown:

Attended Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Was a starter during his junior and senior years and was named captain as a senior.
As captain, Rufo led his team to the State Championship game after winning the ILH Conference Championship.
The linebacker was named ILH Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-State Defense First Team, Hawaii State Sack Leader and Punahou School Defensive MVP in 2022.
During his senior year at Punahou, he tallied 76 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles.
