Ruxandra Andriescu was named the assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis team in 2015. Andriescu came to the Hilltop from James Madison University where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Dukes.
Andriescu assists Ernst in all aspects of both the men’s and women’s program.
At JMU, Andriescu was named to Third Team All-CAA as a singles player. She was also named the JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete and to the CAA All-Academic Team. On the court, she had a winning record playing No. 2-6 singles and No. 2 doubles. Off the court, she was both the president and treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as a member of the Dean’s List and on the President’s List. Andriescu also volunteered at the Harrisonburg Rehabilitation Center, Sunnyside Retirement Community and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She graduated with a bachelor’s of science in May 2014 majoring in biology with a minor in computer information systems.
Prior to college, the Brampton, Ontario native was ranked among the top 10 U-18 players in Canada and the top five U-16 players.
Andriescu comes to the Hilltop with extensive coaching experience instructing both adults and children. She has worked at a number of tennis clubs in the Washington, D.C., area including Yates Field House.
Andriescu is currently pursuing her master’s degree in health systems administration from Georgetown.
