•  A three-star recruit out of Gate City, Virginia
•  Finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in VHSL history with 2,801 points as well as the all-time leading season total (1,153) 
•  Tallied the most points in a state championship game with 47 as he helped Gate City to its first Class 2A state title 
•  Selected the VHSCA and VHSL Player of the Year in 2A boys basketball, Region D Player of the Year and the Mountain 7 District Player of the Year 
•  Named the Kingsport Times New and Bristol Herald Courier Player of the Year 
•  As a junior, named Conference Player of the Year, first team all-region and first time all-state 
•  His sophomore year saw him selected to the all-conference first team, first team all-region and second team all-state 
•  Was an all-conference honoree as a freshman
•  Son of Marcus and Lenore McClung
•  Father played football at Virginia Tech
