UConn Defeats Georgetown in Men's Soccer, 2-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 20, 2000) -- The University of Connecticut scored two goals in the first half and defeated Georgetown, 2-0. The loss ended the Hoyas three-game winning streak. Georgetown is now 8-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in BIG EAST play.

The sixth-ranked Huskies opened the scoring in the 13th minute when David Castellanos put a header from Roberto Vargas past the Hoyas' keeper Tim Hogan (Richmond, Va./Freeman). Cesar Cuellar scored the other Huskies goal in the 33rd minute.

Hogan made two saves in the contest. It was his first loss in five games in goal for GU. Bryheem Hancock made three saves for Connecticut as the Huskies improved to 10-2-2 overall and 5-1-2 in Conference play.

UConn outshot GU 9-6 in the game. Each team had four corner kicks.

Georgetown will be back in action Sunday when they play at Seton Hall in a BIG EAST match.
