Men’s Soccer Earns Regional Coaching Honors

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men's Soccer Coach Brian Wiese and his staff have been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as the East Regional Staff of the Year. The award recognizes the 2025 Regional Staff of the Year winners for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III in both men's and women's soccer.

This season, Georgetown won the BIG EAST Regular Season title as well as the BIG EAST Championship and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Georgetown boasted two All-Americans, as well as four players earning all-region honors. Within the BIG EAST Conference, GU had one BIG EAST Player of the Year, six all-conference honorees and the coaches earned staff of the year honors.

This is the seventh time in program history that GU has earned the honor and the sixth for Wiese (2025, 2024, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2010) whose 2025 staff includes Assistant Coaches Connor Klekota and Michael Montross as well as Assistant Coach/Director of Operations Brian Bouhl.   In 2012, after appearing in the national championship game, Wiese and staff won the Division I National Coach of the Year award. The current staff was also honored with the regional award a season ago.

Just completing his 20th season on the Hilltop, Wiese has seen the most success in the program's history after placing the program on the national stage as one of the top contenders in the country year after year.

In his tenure at Georgetown, Wiese has coached 42 players who have signed with an MLS squad as well as two with European signings, had three Hermann Trophy finalists, eight Hermann Trophy semifinalists, 24 All-Americans, 25 BIG EAST Players of the Year and 101 All-BIG EAST honorees as well as both the College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive and Defensive Player.

On the academic side, he has had five Academic All-Americans, three BIG EAST Scholar-Athletes and one Elite89 Award winner.

The team has seen unprecedented success under Wiese with 14 NCAA Tournament berths in a 16-year span. The squad has also won nine BIG EAST regular season championships, seven BIG EAST Championships and been ranked among the top 25 in 16 seasons including stints at No. 1 in the nation.
