WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown women's tennis team won their fourth match in a row on Wednesday, April 5, with an 8-1 victory against Mary Washington. Playing on their home court the Hoyas' singles players won five of six matches and swept the doubles for a convincing win and improved their overall record to 8-9.

At #2 singles, Sarada Ravindra (Sr., Lake City, Fla./Texas Tech) played aggressively from the baseline and won 6-2, 6-2. Caroline Marshall (So., Pittsford, N.Y./Harley) took over court number three and attacked her opponent on every short ball finishing the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Missy Mendes (Sr., Summit, N.J./Oak Knoll) was the #4 singles player and hit deep penetrating ground strokes the entire match which earned her a 6-1, 6-1 win. Mendes' twin sister, Lauren Mendes (Sr., Summit, N.J./Oak Knoll) played #5 singles and pulled away after a tight first set, winning the match, 6-4, 6-0. In the #6 singles position Georgetown's Sarah White (Fr., Westwood, Mass./Milton) used a strong forehand to her advantage and held on to win 6-1, 6-4. The only loss the Hoyas had on the day came at #1 singles where Lucky Ravindra (Sr., Lake City, Fla./Texas Tech) fell 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in a grueling battle.

Entering the doubles action Georgetown held a 5-1 lead in the team match. They proceeded to sweep their doubles matches for the fourth straight time. The #3 doubles tandem of Kim Wattrick (Fr., Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./University Liggett) and Hadley Muckerman (Fr., St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) volleyed their way to an easy 8-0 victory. At #2 doubles S. Ravindra and M. Mendes put together three well played games in a row to close out their match 8-5. In the final match of the day the #1 Georgetown duo of L. Ravindra and Marshall came back from a 6-1 deficit to win the match 9-8 (5).
