Georgetown Women's Swimming Falls To Maine

The Georgetown women's swimming and diving team dropped its second head to head meet of the season on Friday, January 26 against Maine in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The final score was Maine 125 and Georgetown 115. The team dropped to 6-2.

Despite suffering their first loss of the season, the day produced an historic event as Julianna Bonilla (Fr., West Covina, Calif.) set a Georgetown school record with a score of 245.30 in the one-meter dive. That score placed Bonilla second in the event while Kathryn Harrison (Fr., Chatham, N.J.) finished third with a score of 230.90. Both divers also had impressive dives in the three-meter as Harrsion garnered second with a score of 238.90 and Bonilla placed third with a score of 237.35.

Lauren Moynihan (So., South Hadley, Mass.) was a double winner for Georgetown as she was victorious in both the 1,000 free (10:36.47) and the 500 free (5:16.71). Also placing in the 500 free was Amanda Anderson (Jr., Denville, N.J.) who finished third (5:18.75).

Several other impressive performances were turned in on Friday. Caragh Moynihan (Jr., New Canaan, Conn.) gained third place finishes in both the 50 free (25.96) and 100 free (55.77), Francesca DiSilvio (So., Hingham, Mass.) placed second in the 200 back (2:15.36), and Genna McKeel (So., Tampa, Fla.) had an impressive second place finish in the 200 breast (2:32.28).
