Sara Albert (Davis, Calif./Davis) has been selected BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second-consecutive week. Albert, a 6-3 middle blocker, was honored by the league for her outstanding play during the week of October 8-15.
Albert recorded impressive hitting percentages in each of GU's three matches last week as the Hoyas went 2-1 and picked up a conference win over Providence College. The freshman had 11 kills in both a 3-2 loss to American and a 3-1 win over James Madison. She hit .474 and .611, respectively. In the PC victory, Albert hit .636 and tallied a match-high seven blocks. For the week, she tallied 29 kills with only two errors for a .563 hitting percentage. She averaged 2.4 kills and 1.1 blocks per game over the three matches.
Albert is second on the team this season in blocking with 71 total blocks, including 19 solos, over 61 games for a 1.16 per game average. In addition, Albert has tallied 126 kills and a team-high .397 hitting percentage (126 kills with only 28 errors in 247 attempts). The .397 average ranks her first on the BIG EAST Conference leaders list.
Georgetown is currently 10-6 overall and 6-1 in BIG EAST play.
