Annapolis, Md. ? The Georgetown men?s soccer team fell to 6-7-1, after losing 1-0 to Navy on Tuesday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md.
The Hoyas dominated the game offensively, taking 17 shots to Navy?s nine, but were not able to break the Mids six-game winning streak. Navy goalie and All-American candidate Brian Steckroth blocked six of the 13 Hoya shots in the first half and had seven saves overall.
With less than twenty minutes remaining in the match, Navy stole the ball at midfield from Georgetown and had a three-on-two fastbreak. Justin Fishburn passed the ball over to Brye Gerhardt, who found sophomore Matt Sanchez on the left side of the goal. Sanchez took the pass and blasted a shot past Hoya keeper Brian O?Hagan (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers) for the game-winning goal at the 71:29 mark.
O?Hagan tallied four saves in a losing effort. The Hoyas return to BIG EAST play on Sunday when they travel to Boston College.
