Box Score

Washington, DC. - Georgetown?s men?s soccer team opened up a 3-0 lead in the second half and held on against Princeton winning 3-2 on North Kehoe Field. With the win the Hoyas overall record stands at 4-5 and 2-2 in the BIG EAST while Princeton falls to 1-4-2.

Georgetown entered halftime with a 1-0 lead as Kaiser Chowdhry (Columbia, Md./ McDonogh) scored his first goal of the season two minutes into the contest. After a feed downfield Chowdhry?s dribble was deflected off a Princeton defender and towards the Tigers? goal. Chowdhry and Princeton goalkeeper Eric White both attacked the ball and Chowdhry won the battle and then hit the empty net.

The second half started with physical play on both sides of the ball, by the end of the game Princeton had 17 fouls compared to the Hoyas? 11. At the 55-minute mark the Hoyas opened up a two-goal lead. First Paul Brandley (Larchmont, N.Y./ Mamaroneck) took the ball up the right sideline and hit a cross that creeped by the Tigers? keeper and onto the foot of David Eder (Glencoe, Ill./ New Trier (DePaul)) who put the ball into the twine. Two minutes later a blast by Brandley ricocheted off a Princeton defender and landed at Dan Gargan?s (Philadelphia, Pa./ Chestnut Hill Academy) feet. Gargan took two dribbles and then ripped a 45-yard shot that screamed into the left corner of the goal. Down two Princeton?s offense began to push the ball up field more aggressively and the Tigers? Adrian Melville connected on their first score. Six minutes after that goal at 71:27 Ryan Rich took a 35-yard shot that GU goalkeeper Tim Hogan (Richmond, Va./ Freeman) could not reach. GU was able to hold off the Tigers the remaining 19 minutes with a strong defensive effort from Jeff Curtin (Oreland, Pa./ Germantown Academy) and Greg Freeburg (Pasadena, Calif./ Pasadena Polytechnic).

Princeton took 19 shots compared to GU?s 17. Hogan made four saves on the afternoon while Princeton?s White stopped six balls.

Up next for the Hoyas is a trip to Storrs, Conn. to face BIG EAST counterpart #7 Connecticut. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
