Three Georgetown women?s tennis players competed this past weekend at the Omni Hotels ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Championships at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. Liora Gelblum (So., Cupertina, Calif./Monta Vista), Lydia Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) and Trina Snow (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) represented the Hoya women's tennis squad. The Hoyas? contingent competed well but was unable to achieve victory in the final tournament of the fall 2002 season.
On Friday October 25, Bartell competed in the singles qualifying tournament. She fell in three tough sets in a three-hour battle to Molly Condit Of Columbia 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
On Saturday October 26, Gelblum competed in the main draw of singles. She fell in another tough three set match that took four hours to Daniela Slukova of Syracuse 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5.
In the doubles competition, Bartell and Snow fell in a first round match to Lowdermilk and Stubbs of Virginia Tech 8-3.
Georgetown?s women?s tennis team?s next competition will be in the early months of 2003.
