The Georgetown men?s golf team posted their third straight top five finish, tying Princeton for third place at the Temple Invitational on October 4-5 at the Glenmaura National Golf Course in Mossic, Pennsylvania. The Hoyas? team total of 592 (293, 299) was beaten only by second place Central Connecticut State?s 591 (293, 298) and tournament winner Maryland?s 588 (287, 301). Temple rounded out the top five with a 596 (299, 299).
The Hoyas were led once again by junior Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep). Cook shot a one over par 72 in both rounds for total score of 144. That score tied him with Princeton?s Jason Gerken and George Washington?s Andrew Gallo for the best individual score of the tournament, and sent the three into a playoff for first place in the individual competition. Gallo went on to win the playoff and take home the individual honors.
The Hoyas also received strong performances from junior Jamie Farrah (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) and freshman Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School). Farrah?s 146 (72-74) tied him for ninth place, and Myers? 147 (73, 74) earned him a tie for eleventh. David Erickson (Fr., Edina, Minn./The Blake School), who shot a two round total of 155 (78, 77), finished tied for 35th, and Chad DeLuca (So., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), who finished four behind Erickson with a 159 (80, 79), tied for 51st place.
The Hoyas? next action is on October 14-15 at the Xavier Invitational at the King?s Island Resort in Cincinnati, Ohio.
