Women' Tennis Sweeps Towson

The Georgetown women?s tennis team did not lose a single set in their duel match opener, defeating Towson by a score of 7-0. 

The Hoyas won the doubles point by taking all three of the day?s doubles matches.  Sophomores Lydia Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) and Trina Snow (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) took the first doubles match by a score of 8-5, Jordan Botjer (Jr., Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) and Monisha Ghia (So., Bethlehem, PA) took the second doubles 8-1, and in third doubles, Liora Gelblum (So., Cupertina, Calif./Monta Vista) and Stephanie Sutton (Jr., Arlington, Texas/(Sam Houston State) won by a score of 8-3.

All six of the Hoyas? singles competitors were equally impressive.  In first singles, Gelblum defeated Lindsay Brown 6-1, 6-0; in second singles, Bartell stopped Emily Weichert 6-1, 6-1; in third singles, Snow knocked off Sarah Dumansky 6-1, 6-0; in fourth singles, Botjer beat Jill Spiritus 6-2, 6-1; in fifth singles, Sutton topped Morgan Sugar-Butter 6-3, 6-3; and in sixth singles, Ghia was victorious over Stacey Pignatelli 6-1, 6-0.

The Hoyas next action will be Friday-Sunday, October 11-13, in Flushing, N.Y. in the ECAC Invitational Team Championship.
