Box Score

Washington, DC. - Georgetown?s men?s soccer team hosted the University of Maryland today and lost 2-0 to the #6 Terrapins in front of 789 people on North Kehoe Field. The loss places the Hoyas overall record at 4-7 while Maryland stands at 10-2.

Georgetown played a defensive style the entire game and Maryland was only able to unleash eight total shots during the contest. Maryland scored early in the game at the 16-minute mark after a Terp shot careened off the sidebar straight to the foot of Abe Thompson who put the ball in the net. GU?s Michael Banner (Washington, D.C./ Gonzaga) had a blast later in the half for Georgetown which would have tied the game but the Maryland defense was able to deflect the shot.

The second half was a parade of shots from Georgetown as the Hoyas took seven compared to Maryland?s two. GU was unable to convert any chances while Maryland upped their lead to 2-0 after an Ian Rodway score in the 70th minute.

Hoya goalkeeper Tim Hogan (Richmond, Va./Freeman) stopped two balls on the day. UM?s keeper Noah Palmer had three saves.

Next on the docket for the Hoyas is BIG EAST rival Villanova this Saturday, October 12 at 1 p.m. on North Kehoe Field.
