SOUTH ORANGE, NJ ? Senior outside hitter Lauren Warner (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) connected for a match-high 19 kills, in addition to seven digs, to lead Georgetown past Seton Hall, 3-0 (30-19, 30-25, 30-23) in BIG EAST women's volleyball on Sunday, November 17, in Walsh Gym. The Pirates end their season with a 15-18 overall record and 5-8 in the BIG EAST while Georgetown wraps up the 2002 season with a 17-13 overall mark and 7-6 in the BIG EAST.
For the Hoyas, sophomore middle blocker Sara Albert (Davis, Calif./Davis) contributed 14 kills on a match-high .813 hitting percentage and a team-high five blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Julie Grauert (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit) recorded a match-high 10 digs and sophomore setter Margaret Vernon (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver School) distributed a match-high 30 assists and added four blocks.
Freshman Rachel Nelson (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) supplied nine kills, seven digs and two blocks, while senior middle blocker Anna Kleinsorge (San Francisco, Calif./St. Francisco) added eight kills, four block assists, three digs and a .429 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Natasha Nguyen (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo) had three aces, eight digs and four assists on the afternoon.
For Seton Hall, senior Kari Belin had a team-high eight kills and added two blocks while senior Alyson Furch added five kills and a team-high five blocks. Senor Tara Brooks tallied six kills and four blocks and sophomore Shawn McDonald distributed a team-high 27 assists. Freshman Emily Hawkins recorded a team-high nine digs.
