WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Georgetown women?s basketball Head Coach Patrick Knapp announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent today. Kate Carlin, a 5-11 guard from Ambler, Pa. and Mount St. Joseph?s Academy, and Amber Dorsey, a 6-2 forward from Hampton, Va. and Bethel High School will both suit up in the Blue and Gray next season.
Carlin averaged 14.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a junior at Mount St. Joseph?s. She started every game the past three years and was selected All-League as a sophomore and a junior. Carlin is a USA Today top 60 senior and was a Street and Smith All-American as a junior.
?Kate will add strength and size to our guard corps, but most of all she will play with great intensity and can score consistently,? commented Coach Knapp. ?She will become one of our top three point threats right away.?
The 6-2 Dorsey shares the same hometown and high school alma mater as former Georgetown men?s basketball standout Allen Iverson. She averaged 11 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks per outing as a junior. Dorsey was her team?s MVP and a First Team All Peninsula District selection in 2002. She was chosen as a 2002-03 Honorable Mention McDonalds All American.
?Amber is a great leaper, runs the floor well and can block shots. With some work on her offensive game, I believe she can resemble Sylita Thomas (CAS ?99), who scored over 1,300 points here at GU,? stated Coach Knapp.
