Washington, D.C. ? Georgetown men?s soccer players, Dan Gargan (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) and Tim Hogan (Richmond, Va./Freeman), were both selected as BIG EAST Players of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2002.
Gargan earned his first BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award after his defensive efforts in the Hoyas two contests this past week. Gargan helped lead a Hoya defense that held #1 St. John?s scoreless for the first time in six games. He also was a major part of the Hoya victory against West Virginia as the defense posted a shutout and Gargan assisted on the game-winning goal.
Hogan was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week after posting two back-to-back BIG EAST shutouts last week. Hogan spent 200 minutes in the cage and stopped 10 shots including six against top ranked St. John?s. His four saves at West Virginia ensured the Hoya victory.
Georgetown next suits up as the #5 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and will face #4 seed Notre Dame this Saturday, November 9, 2002 in South Bend, Indiana at 7:30 p.m.
