GU Volleyball Team Downs Boston College 3-0

Washington, DC ? Senior outside hitter Lauren Warner (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) posted a match-high 17 kills and nine digs to lead the Georgetown University Hoyas to a 3-0 (30-19, 30-18, 30-24) victory over the Boston College Eagles in BIG EAST women?s volleyball action on Friday, November 8, at McDonough Gym.  Liz Aron led Boston College with six kills and seven digs.  The Hoyas improve to 15-12 overall and 5-5 in BIG ESAT play, while the Eagles drop to 13-8 overall and 2-8 in league competition. 

In addition to Warner?s 17 kills and nine digs, she also tied a match high in blocks with seven and hit .438 for the match (17 kills with three errors in 32 attempts).  Senior middle blocker Anna Kleinsorge (San Francisco, Calif./St. Francis) stepped up with six kills and two blocks on the evening.  Kleinsorge also turned in the match?s highest hitting percentage of .500 (six kills with only one error in 10 attempts).  Sophomore middle blocker Sara Albert (Davis, Calif./Davis) tied Warner with a match-high seven blocks to go with four kills and two digs.

Junior setter Jen Ward (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) tallied a match-high 22 assists over just two games.  Ward also had six digs.  Key reserve Ashley Lancaster (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville) chipped in four kills and a hitting percentage of .444 (four kills with no errors in nine attempts).  Freshmen outside hitters Natasha Nguyen (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo) and Rachel Nelson (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) each contributed three kills to the Hoya totals.  Nguyen also provided five digs and Nelson three.  Sophomore Julie Grauert (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit) played the libero position and finished with eight digs.   

Georgetown hit .239 for the match and held Boston College to just -.071.  The Hoyas also held a 10-5 advantage in team blocks.

The Hoyas host BIG EAST opponent Providence on Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m.  It will be the last home match for seniors Anna Kleinsorge and Lauren Warner.
