WASHINGTON, D.C.? The Georgetown University sailing team competed in two regattas this past weekend, highlighted by the women's team's fourth place overall finish at the Charleston Spring Women's Intersectional.
At the Charleston Women's Intersectional, the Hoyas placed fourth with a total of 140 points. Georgetown?s "B" division team, comprised of Cordo Carraher (Oxford, Mass./St. Andrews School, Del.) and Megan O'Neill (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei), finished the weekend in third place with 48 points. In their first race since returning to America, Mimi Elliott (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/The Hotchkiss School) and Emma Trentman (St. Leonard, Md./The Calverton School) sailed to a tenth place overall finish with 92 points.
Georgetown?s coed sailors also competed in the Charleston Coed Intersectional, where GU finished in seventh place overall with a total of 205 points. Barbara Hall (Marion, Mass./Tabor Academy) and Tyler Haskell (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) placed seventh in the "B" division with 98 points. In the "A" Division, Byron LaMotte (Oxford, Md./The Hotchkiss School) and Dorothee Bergin (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley), placed eighth with 107 points.
The Hoyas sail again next weekend in the Charleston Team Race at the College of Charleston and the Navy Team Race.
