Women' Basketball Player Bethany LeSueur Transfers to Georgetown

August 12, 2002

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Georgetown University Head Women?s Basketball Coach Patrick Knapp announced today that Bethany LeSueur will transfer to Georgetown after spending last season on the University of Virginia Cavaliers squad.

LeSueur averaged 11 minutes, 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds during her 22 games of action for Virginia. She missed six games in late December and early January due to mononucleosis. Prior to enrolling at UVa LeSueur was a standout guard at Garden City High School in Garden City, N.Y. She ended her high school career as Long Island?s all-time leading scorer with 3,167 points. She was chosen as the Nassau Player of the Year three times and was a two-time Gatorade state player of the year.

?Bethany shoots the ball extremely well. She is a competitive person and her ability to score and defend will be a great plus to our team. Her focus and hard work in the classroom and on the court will help her quickly adapt to the Georgetown way of life,? stated Coach Knapp.

With NCAA transfer rules LeSueur will not be able to play for the Hoyas until the 2003-04 season. She will be allowed to practice with the team this year.
