Men' Golf Posts Best Finish Ever at Navy Fall Invitational

Georgetown?s men?s golf team posted its best finish ever at the Navy Fall Invitational this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, September 7-8, at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course, finishing fifth overall. The Hoyas shot 292 and 290 for a combined two day score of 582, 14 over par. Winthrop took home the tournament title with a score of 575, while Navy and Towson tied for second, each with scores of 577. William and Mary finished fourth with a mark of 580, edging Georgetown by only two strokes.

The Hoyas were led by junior Jamie Farrah (Potomac. Md./Georgetown Prep) and junior team captain Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep), both of whom finished in the top five at the event. Farrah shot a 71 on  Saturday and followed with a 69 on Sunday, leaving him in fourth place with a two under par score of 140. Meanwhile, Cook shot a 70 and 71 to finish in fifth place with a combined score of 141, one under par.

Freshman Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School) also turned in a fine performance with a 149 (74, 75), tying him for 26th place overall. Following Myers was sophomore Chad DeLuca (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), who tied for 36th place with a two-day score of 152 (77, 75). Junior Peter Rivas (New Orleans, La./Jesuit) rounded out the Hoya golfers with a tie for 43rd place, turning in score of 155 (80, 75).

The Hoyas will next compete at the James Madison Invitational, to be held at Lakeview Country Club in Harrisonburg, Virginia next weekend, September 21-22.
