Lexington, Va. ? Georgetown University Men's soccer scored two goals in the first-half and added two more in the second to knock off VMI 4-0, Wednesday, in a men?s soccer match-up at Patchin Field.
The Hoyas, who fell to #8 Notre Dame by just one goal last week, decided the contest early by scoring their first two goals at the 16:41 mark and the 23:30 mark.
Georgetown Kemmons Feldman (So., Eden Prarie, Minn./ Minnehaha Academy) netted the games first goal with assists from junior Dan Gargan (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) and freshman Ricky Schramm (Fr., East Chester, N.Y./Fordham Prep School). Schramm recorded his second assist of the game when fellow first year player Daniel Grasso (Burr Ridge, Ill./Hinsdale Central) made the score 2-0 with a goal.
Five minutes into the second half Georgetown Carl Skanderup (Sr., Barrington, Ill./Barrington) got into the mix by scoring his second goal of the season unassisted, which put the Hoyas up 3-0. Six minutes later Grasso scored again unassisted to make the final score 4-0.
The Keydets were out-shot by the Hoyas 10-5, and really never came close to getting on the board. VMI went to their bench early and often, using 14 non-starters during the game.
Georgetown goalkeeper Tim Hogan (Sr., Richmond, Va./Freeman) had five saves on the day, while freshman Hoya goalkeeper Andrew Keszler (Fr., Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) also saw some playing time. He registered one save on the day.
Georgetown returns home to play Providence on Saturday, October 4th at 1 p.m.
