WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown University women?s basketball team (4-2) dropped their second straight game, this time to the Hoosiers of Indiana (4-2) by a score of 72-62. The Hoyas started off strong, taking an early 23-9 lead, but Indiana was able to fight back toward the end of period. The first half ended with the Hoyas up 35-28.
The Hoyas lost their shooting touch in the second half, shooting 20% from the floor and ending the game with only six field goals in the period. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers turned up their offense, shooting 46.4% from the floor, and outscoring the Hoyas 44-27 in the final stanza.
With GU?s All-America Candidate Rebbekah Brunson (Sr., Oxon Hill, Md./ Oxon Hill) in foul trouble, junior guard Mary Lisicky (Whitehall, Pa./ Whitehall) tried to lead her team back, scoring a team high 21 points, including 11 of 11 free throws, extending her free throw streak to 18 straight.
Brunson?s foul trouble was throughout most of the second half, but she managed to fall just one rebound shy of her 36th double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) continued to score in double digits as well notching 11 points. Indiana showcased a balanced scoring attack in their win, putting four players in double digits. Leah Enterline, who scored 17, led the Hoosiers.
Georgetown takes a 13-day break for final exams with its next game on Saturday, December 20th at McDonough Gym vs. Loyola at 1 p.m.
