Exactly one month ago, Georgetown defeated Syracuse 82-75 in overtime. Today is the pivotal rematch between BIG EAST squads seperated by a single conference win. Georgetown has struggled lately, going 2-3 in the last five games. Syracuse is winless in February, dropping three-straight BIG EAST games to B.C., Villanova and UConn.
The Hoyas look to rebound from a weekend loss in Blacksburg in a tilt with Virginia Tech that witnessed 52 fouls and three Hoya foul-outs (all starters, and two of GU?s three top scorers). Rebekkah Brunson looks to will the Hoyas back on track, averaging a double-double this season while ranking in the top-10 in the nation in rebounding.
The Orangewomen fell 75-51at UConn and were led by 18 points from junior Julie McBride. Junior Shannon Perry snatched 10 rebounds in the loss. Perry leads the team in scoring with 16.2 points followed closely by McBride?s 15.9 a game. Syracuse boasts the conference?s 10th-best offense and 13th ranked defense.
