College Park, Md.?The  Georgetown University Women?s Tennis team fell to host #55 Maryland 7-0 yesterday at the Tennis Center at College Park.

            The Terps swept the Hoyas in singles and doubles matches. At first singles, Hoya sophomore Liora Gelblum (Cupertina, Calif. / Monta Vista) fell to Emily Marker, 6-1, 6-2.  Sophomore Lydia Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. / Torrey Pines) lost her second singles match with Ramona But by a score of 6-1, 6-4. At third singles, Georgetown?s Trina Snow (So., Sartell, Minn. / Sartell) went down to Marta Jedrzejnak,  6-2, 6-2. Jordan Botjer (Jr., Miami, Fla. / Ransom Everglades) dropped her fourth singles match to Maryland?s Jennifer Dent, 6-4, 6-1. At fifth singles, sophomore Monica Ghia (Bethlehem, Pa.) fell to Andreea Fusea, 6-1, 6-3; while at sixth singles Hoya Stephanie Sutton (Jr., Arlington, Texas/ Sam Houston State) lost to Chloe Chavardes, 6-1, 6-1.

            Maryland earned the doubles point to complete the 7-0 victory by winning all three doubles matches. At first doubles, Marker and But defeated Georgetown?s Bartell and Snow, 8-1. Second doubles saw the Hoya duo of Botcher and Ghia fall to Dent and Fusea, 8-3; while at third singles Georgetown?s Gelblum and Sutton were blanked 8-0 by Maryland?s Jedrzejak and Chavardes.

            The Georgetown Women?s Tennis team returns to action on Saturday, February 8, when they host George Mason in a dual match. The match will be held at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. Action begins at 5:30 p.m.
