The Hoya women's sailing team started off their season with an impressive performance at Dartmouth. The conditions were typical for Dartmouth, shifty and puffy, and both divisions did a great job getting ahead off the starting line. The highlight of the regatta was the performance of sophome skipper Jackie Schmitz and senior crew Paulina Szyrmer. They had only one race out of the top 10 and finished in the top 5 in a number of races.

The Nevins Trophy was a mixed bag of results. A div with Tyler and Emilie was the highlight for the Hoyas. They sailed consistently well and beat a number of great sailors. The other two divisions had good races but couldn't put together enough good races in a row to break the top 5 in division.
Ocean County College Regatta
A div. 2nd w/ 45 points Berry Kurland / Kelly Lanzara
B div. 1st w/ 38 points Ed duMoulin / Chris Harvey
1. St. Mary's 79

10. N.Y. Maritime 201
11. Cornell 206
12. Penn State 258
The Ocean County college regatta was a bit of a disappointment for the Hoyas, seeing as they should have easily won the regatta but had a few bad sets of races. In B div Ed and Chris won a lot of races but then had some out of the top 10 which hurt the overall score.
Freshman Groundbreaker @ NY Maritime 420's
A div. 6th w/ 32 points JB Turney / Emilie Bogrand
B div. 2nd w/ 15 points Langdon Mitchell / Jessica Stewart
Overall
1. St. Mary's Blue 34

8. Columbia 96
9. New York Maritime 101
10. Fordham 101
11. Army 114
12. Rochester 122
The Freshmen sailed well in the tricky currents of the East River. Both divisions got
better as the regatta went on and they are not that far behind the great recruiting class
from St. Mary's.
Georgetown will be competing in three regattas this weekend:
St. Mary' Open
Laser South Qualifiers @ Navy
MAISA Regatta @ Georgetown
