STORRS, CONN. ? The Connecticut Huskies handed the Georgetown University women?s volleyball team its second-straight BIG EAST loss with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-25, 30-23) win over the Hoyas at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.  Georgetown falls to 11-8 overall and 0-2 in BIG EAST Conference play, while Connecticut improved to 10-6 and 2-0 in league competition.

            The Hoyas hit just .137 for the match.  UConn recorded a .263 hitting percentage and outblocked Georgetown 14-6.  Jamie Hadenfeldt led the Huskies with 13 kills and nine digs in the victory.

            Junior middle blocker Jenny Weed (Salt Lake City, Utah/Utah Valley College) was the only Hoya to hit in double figures in the match. Weed registered 12 kills and two blocks in the three-game contest.  Senior middle blocker Sara Albert (Davis, Calif./Davis) and junior outside hitter Ashley Lancaster (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville) both posted seven kills each, with Albert hitting .500 and adding five blocks.  Rachel Nelson (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) was credited with six kills and seven digs, while Annie Connor (So., Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis) tallied five kills and three digs. 

            Kate Fisher (Fr., Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo) and Margaret Vernon (Sr., Denver, Colo./Kent Denver School) continue to split time at the GU setter?s position.  Fisher posted 24 assists, four digs and two kills, while Vernon added 15 assists and two digs.  Patty Carroll (Fr., Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) and Jessica George (Jr., Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) both notched four kills on the day.  Carroll also contributed 12 digs and two assists.  Katie Nulty (Fr., Santa Barbara, Calif./Laguna Blanca) had 12 digs as the libero.

            The Hoyas return to action on Wednesday, October 13, when they meet American at 7:00 at AU.
