PHILADELPHIA, PA. - Senior women's tennis student-athlete Liora Gelblum (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) and freshman student-athlete Liz Winokur (West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) represented Georgetown in the Wilson ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Championships at the University of Pennsylvania October 22-24, 2004.

In the first round of singles play, Gelblum defeated Yana Tikhonko of Marist 6-1,6-2. In the second round Gelblum was defeated by Candice Fuchs of William and Mary.

In doubles play Gelblum and partner Winokur defeated Rutger's Elder-Bush and Edelschein by an 8-2 score in the first round. In the second round the Hoyas had the unfortunate luck to draw the second seed in the tournament. Maryland's But and Baker defeated the Hoya tandem 8-1.

This marks the completion of a successful fall season for the women's tennis program. The Hoyas will resume collegiate competition in January of 2005.
