UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The Georgetown University women's basketball team (1-3) lost to the University of Richmond (4-0) 62-50 on Wednesday night at the Robins Center.

The Spiders held an early 16-8 lead but hit just two field goals during a seven minute stretch and the Hoyas took their first lead of the game at the 4:37 point off a lay-up from sophomore Amber Dorsey (Hampton, Va./ Bethel). Georgetown took as much as a three-point lead during the remainder of the half before the Spiders hit the last shot of the period to get within one point (27-26) at the break.

The lead in the second half was traded between the Hoyas and the Spiders, playing each other very evenly. The Spiders opened the second half with a free throw that tied the score at 27 and a three-point basket as the shot clock expired gave Richmond a 38-33 edge with just over 15 minutes left. Georgetown answered back with seven straight points to retake the lead two minutes later and the teams stayed even for the following eight minutes of play. The Spiders reestablished the lead with 5:09 on the clock off a Kate Flavin lay-up that put the score at 50-49. Georgetown scored just one more point in the final three and half minutes and the Spiders took the 62-50 win.

The Hoyas were led by senior Mary Lisicky's (Whitehall, Pa./ Whitehall) 15 points, including a trio of three-point baskets. Freshman Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./ Coatesville) added 12 points and six rebounds.

Georgetown is back in action on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in McDonough Arena where they will face Army.
