WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University women?s basketball student-athlete Rebekkah Brunson (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) was named to the 2003-04 AP Women?s Basketball All-America Honorable Mention basketball team. Brunson is the first Georgetown women?s basketball player to ever earn AP All-America honors.
Brunson is a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection and was named the conference?s 2004 Defensive Player of the Year. Brunson was the first player in the history of the BIG EAST to lead the league in scoring (20.4) and rebounding (11.3). In 2004 she became Georgetown?s all-time leading rebounder (1,093) and finished second on the all-time scoring list (1,762). Brunson secured 336 rebounds this season, which ranks as the highest single season total in Hoya history. She was the BIG EAST Player of the Week six times and led the league in double-doubles with 18. In her career Brunson finished with 50 double-doubles in 107 career contests.
