GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgetown's men's golf program opened the 2004-05 season with a 12th place showing at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by the University of North Carolina -- Greensboro. Georgetown posted a three round total of 897 (297-302-298) garnering the 12th spot out of 17 teams. Wichita State won the event with a 853 followed by host UNC-Greensboro's 864, Lamar's 869, Louisville's 876 and Marshall's 879.
Junior David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) was the top individual Hoya finisher putting together a three round total of 219 (71-73-75) placing him in a tie at 18th. Sophomore Tim Moynihan (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep) tied for 38th overall with a 223 (73-75-75) and junior Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./ Central High School) was one stroke behind, tying for 43rd with a 224 (74-76-74).
Rounding out the Hoya five was senior Matt Hoesley (Lake Forest, Ill./ Loyola Academy) in a tie at 71st (233 -- 79-80-74) and fellow senior Bob Molina (Skokie, Ill./ Loyola Academy) tied at 79th (237--83-78-76).
Next up for the Hoyas is the William & Mary Invitational in Providence Forge, Virginia at the Royal New Kent Golf Links on October 4-5.
