Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball teams travels to Muncie, Ind. and the Ball St. Credit Union Classic this weekend. The Hoyas (2-0) face North Dakota St. on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. before doing battle with either Lipscomb or Ball St. on Sunday.
The Hoyas are coming off a 68-60 win over Mt. St. Mary's on Wednesday night in GU's home opener. Sophomore Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa/Coatesville) had a huge game setting new career highs with 27 points and 16 rebounds. Marlow, who earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Freshmen team last season, matched a career-high with ten field goals and scored 19 points in the second half.
Sophomore guard Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) hit a long trey with three seconds left in the first half to give GU their first lead of the game, a lead they would never relinquish. The Chicago native finished with 12 points and three threes while senior Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) scored 11 points to go along with five assists and five rebounds.
New Opponents... Georgetown has never faced any of this weekend's opponents, North Dakota St., Lipscomb or Ball St..
Career Night... Sophomore Kieraah Marlow set new career highs with 27 points and 16 rebounds last time out in the win over Mt. St. Mary's. Marlow scored 19 points in the second half and matched a career high with ten field goals. The Coatsville, Pa native also handed out three assists to go along with three steals.
Marlow is now averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds and is making 55% of her field goals after recording the 14th double-double of her career.
Nice Addition... Senior reserve guard Leslie Tyburski netted a career-high 14 points on 6-8 shooting in the season-opening win at Savannah St. The Hammond, Ind. native, who notched double-figures for the second time in her career, made 5-6 field goals in the first half, including her first two three points attempts of the season.
Last season, Tyburski appeared in six games, averaging 4.8 minutes and made just two field goals in six attempts.
