Hoyas Take on UConn in BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals

Washington, DC - The Georgetown University men's soccer team travels to the University of Connecticut today for the meeting with the Huskies in the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals today. The contest is set for 1 p.m. at Marrone Stadium with the winner taking on St. John's in the Semifinals on Friday, November 11.

Georgetown (10-8-1) is coming off a victory at Villanova on Thursday when GU recorded topped the Wildcats 3-0 in penalty kicks after the teams played to a 2-2 tie. Junior Andrew Keszler (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) made eight saves in goal for the Hoyas and made two saves on consecutive Villanova penalty kick attempts and Danny McAnally (Mendham, N.J./Delbarton) scored the game-tying goal with two minutes to go in regulation.

The Hoyas, who are making their 13th appearance in the BIG EAST Championship in the last 14 years face off with UConn (12-3-1) for the second time in ten days after the Huskies edged GU, 1-0 at Marrone Stadium in the final regular-season game for both teams.

GU and UC will be squaring off for the fourth time in the league's tournament after the two schools met in 1997, 1998 and 1999. The Hoyas won two of those meetings with UConn winning in 1999.
