Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's sailing team placed fourth this weekend at the MAISA Women's Fall Championship, hosted by New York Maritime Academy in Throggs Neck, N.Y.
With 63 points the Hoyas tied with Hobart/William Smith for third, but lost the tiebreaker for their fourth place finish. Navy (52 points) and St. Mary's (54) placed first and second in the 16-school regatta.
Leading to its fourth place finish, Georgetown won the B division, totaling 15 points over the seven races. Senior Kelly Lanzara (Great Falls, Va./Bishop O'Connell) and sophomore Blaire Herron (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) crossed first in three races, while finishing in the top-four in all seven.
Meanwhile, in the A division, senior Darby Anderson (Annapolis, Md./The Key School) and freshman Carly Chamberlain finished seventh with 48 points.
