Georgetown Volleyball Signs Middle Blocker for 2005 Season

WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown University Head Coach Li Liu today announced that Kit Niesen has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for the Hoyas in the fall of 2005. Niesen, a 6'1-1/2" middle blocker from Gainesville, Fla., will help fill the shoes of Sara Albert, the 2001 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and a perennial All-BIG EAST Team selection, who graduates in May.

Niesen attended Eastside High School in Gainesville. She played varsity volleyball from ninth grade through her senior year, earning Florida High School All-State Third Team honors in 2005. Niesen also played club volleyball for the Mizuno Gainesville Junior 18 Blue.

Niesen also competed on Eastside's track and field team as a sophomore, junior and senior. The 2004 Florida Regional High Jump Champion, she was also voted Most Valuable Athlete for Girl's Track as a junior. Niesen placed third in the high jump at the Florida State Meet in 2004.

An excellent student, Niesen is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the Inter and Key Clubs, two service organizations. In addition, Niesen belongs to the Spanish Club and is a council member of the Church Youth Group.
