Box Score

COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Hoyas were victorious in the first game of the Maryland/adidas Classic on Friday, defeating the VCU Rams 3-1. The Rams dominated early, having 5 shots on goal to none by the Hoyas, and scored the first goal, but Georgetown would come back to dominate the game.

The Rams scored on a give and go by Brian Morris and an assist by Schaldinger, at the 62 minute. Richard Frank answered for the Hoyas 14 minutes after the initial goal when he scored unassisted. Taking advantage of a misplay by the Ram's goalkeeper Frank scored from 23 yards out. Frank, who had been sidelined through the first two weeks of the season, got his first goal and his first touch at the same time.

Seven minutes later Ben Jefferson-Dow headed one in off a cross by Brent Plumley to give the Hoyas the lead. Two and a half minutes later Daniel Grasso scored the Hoyas third goal. Ricky Schramm sent one across, Frank flicked it and Grasso scored on an open net.

The win gave the Hoyas a 3-0 record in the Southern Atlantic Region. The Hoyas next play on Sunday at 5:00 vs. Santa Clara.
